Supporting artists.
Enriching lives.
Having fun.
We champion Boston’s visual artists, share inspiring cultural experiences, and build a joyful community connected through art and friendship.
ABOUT US
A gathering place for
friends and art enthusiasts.
We are a community united by a love of art. We pool our resources to support Boston’s visual artists while enjoying cultural experiences that foster curiosity, learning, and connection.
Our 50 founding donors are current and former volunteers at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Many of us met through the museum's Associates program, where we trained as docents and floral designers and developed lasting friendships rooted in a shared enthusiasm for art. Boston Friends of the Visual Arts carries that spirit forward by bringing people together to support Boston's visual artists from students developing their talents in the classroom to emerging artists creating work in the studio—while deepening engagement with visual art and building community through meaningful cultural experiences.
As a group, we enjoy studio visits, lectures, and gallery talks; provide microgrants to artists; and underwrite community exhibitions throughout Greater Boston, with a special commitment to amplifying artists who are underrepresented in Boston's major institutions.
